The Alleghany Highlands Regional Library is currently closed until further notice. All fines have been suspended at this time. The library’s offerings of online services are available, databases, and e-books will remain available. AHRL staff will be available Monday through Friday during the closing from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. by telephone to help patrons with reference questions, technology assistance, and to renew library items that are currently checked-out. Materials can still be returned to the book drop.

Highlands Community Bank is conducting business through their drive-thru only.To set an appointment for loan or deposit account service, please call 540-962-2265 for the Covington branch, 540-862-2265 for the Clifton Forge Branch, or 540-839-3568 for the Hot Spring Branch.
Olde Town Mercantile Coffee Bar and Shop, on West Main Street in Covington is open for business, and is serving customers with Carry-Out, Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., and on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
KFC in Covington is now only serving customers through take-out and drive thru only, at their regular business hours.
Burger King is open from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily. Drive thru service only.
Wendy’s is open from 6:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. daily. Drive thru only!
Thunder Alley is CLOSED until further notice.
Covington Movies 3 is CLOSED until further notice.
The Clifton Forge Public Library is closed until further notice. Please call 863-2519 for additional details.
Family Dental Practice, the Dental office of Dr. David Wheeler and Dr. Erin Cassilly in Covington will be closed through April 1st, 2020.
The Clifton Forge Area Food Pantry will remain open as usual. Monday and Friday 9 am till 11 am and Wednesday 10 am till 11 am for distribution of food. If in need of emergency food, please visit these days.
Cafe Michel in Clifton Forge is now closed until further notice.
Food Lion - Normal open and close schedule - 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. - Monday thru Friday - Some purchases are limited.
Kroger - Opening from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. in Virginia and West Virginia - Some purchases are limited. An hour of shopping exclusively for senior and at-risk shoppers happens 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Walmart - Opening from 7 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. There are special shopping days for all seniors 60 and above - every Tuesday - one hour before normal opening hours through April 28, 2020. Some purchases are limited.
Alleghany Family Pharmacy has now closed their inside service, but is still open for free delivery and drive thru services.
The Goodwill is accepting donations at this time and has adjusted their store hours to 10 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. for the next two weeks.
The Greenbrier Resort and Casino is closed until further notice, as well as Snowshoe Ski Resort.
Triangle Country Store and Restaurant is now open from 10 am to 6 pm, Monday through Sunday. Dining room is closed, but the store is limited to 10 people at a time. Triangle Restaurant is offering to go orders.
Boost Mobile in the Highland Centre opens 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Hearing Life Office on Valley Ridge Road in Covington is CLOSED until further notice.
Commonwealth Arms is open normal business hours. Monday thru Thursday, 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The Salvation Army Thrift Store and Social Workers Office is open regular hours. Please call ahead for an appointment and for instruction on necessary paperwork needed to apply for assistance.

Mount Carmel UMC will livestream all worship services at their appointed times. All other meetings have been cancelled until further notice.
The 24th Annual Alleghany Highlands Bike Rodeo, scheduled for May 2, 2020 has been postponed. Event organizers are hoping to conduct the Bike Rodeo, later this year, in the Fall
The 8th Annual Fish for a Cause has been postponed to a later date.
Alleghany County Circuit Court has suspended some services like the processing of: passport, concealed handgun permits, hunting and fishing licenses and assisting the public with record searches. The Civil Court is currently not being scheduled unless an emergency hearing is needed. The Criminal Court is hearing some cases such as bond hearings and arraignment hearings. For questions: Criminal Court cases - Call your attorney. All others may call the Circuit Court Clerk's Office at 540-965-1730. ***Conceal Carry Permit Renewals are being handled by mail.
Alleghany County Combined Courts will postpone all non-emergency cases through April 26, 2020. Courts will continue to operate by hearing all emergency cases, such as protective orders and DSS emergency cases. All cases that were to be heard during this timeframe will be continued. A hearing date notice will be mailed out with the new hearing date. You can make payments online at www.vacourts.gov.
Visitors to the Alleghany County Courthouse are restricted at this time. All business needing to be conducted should be done online or by calling clerk’s office at 540-965-1720
Alleghany County and the City of Covington Administration offices are closed to the public until further notice. Both localities are requesting that citizens do business by calling the office you need to see instead.
Botetourt County Administrative Offices are closed until further notice.
All Botetourt Fire and EMS Stations are now closed to the public.
All Virginia DMV customer service centers are closed until April 2. Driver and vehicle credentials have been extended 60 days. Most business may still be conducted online at dmv.virginia.gov.
The Virginia Employment Commission Workforce Development Center in Covington is closed until further notice. Call volume in contact centers is exceedingly high. You may experience difficulty getting through and wait times will be exceptionally long. Beginning with claims effective March 15, 2020, Governor Northam has directed that the one week waiting period and the requirement to conduct a weekly job search both be suspended for those receiving unemployment insurance benefits.If you are filing an initial claim for unemployment insurance benefits, please do so online at www.vec.virginia.gov/unemployed. Weekly continued claims can also be filed online or by using the automated phone system at 1-800-897-5630.
Several Bath County Governmental Offices are making changes to their service delivery options and times. Here is what we have thus far:
The Bath County Commissioner of the Revenue Office is now closed to the public until further notice.
The Bath County Treasurer's Office still remains open to the public by appointment only. Please make an appointment at 540.839.7256.

City of Covington Spring Clean up cancelled until further notice
Hospitals and Nursing Facilities
Both Lewis Gale and Bath Community Hospitals have strict visitation policies in place. Patient visitation and service access are being restricted. To find out the current status for each hospital, it is suggested that you call before you visit or check the hospital’s website and/or Facebook pages for details. Area nursing home facilities as well.
Boys Home of Virginia has cancelled the Industry Day event that was scheduled for April 17th, and also Church Day, scheduled for May 12th. Boys Home will notify everyone as soon as these events are rescheduled. ***Donations are needed by the Salvation Army to meet the growing demand for toilet paper, paper towels, adult diapers, hand sanitizers, non-perishable food, and cleaning supplies. Donation bins for those items are at these drop-off locations:
Clark’s Performance Diesel, Scott’s Welding Services, Cliffview Golf Club & Inn, League of Older Americans, The Salvation Army, Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce & Tourism, Alleghany County Sheriff Office and the City of Covington Police.
Clifton Forge Little League, All Little League activities are suspended/postponed until May 11th, 2020.
The Alleghany Humane Society will be closed to the public until further notice, but will continue to provide services. If you are looking for a lost pet, please call 540-862-2436, you can also send a message to the Humane Society on Facebook, or send e-mail to email@example.com. The Alleghany Humane Society will transact reclaims by appointment. If you need to surrender an animal, please use the contacts listed above, and assistance will be provided if possible. If pet food is needed from the community pet food pantry, also contact the Humane Society and they will try to assist you.

***Alleghany County Public Schools has announced that a live Facebook event from Sunday, March 29, 2020 has been posted on the divisions website at alleghany.k12.va.us for parents to watch. Answers to your questions about graduation, seniors completing the school year, grades for promotion to the next level and more have been posted. You will also find a FAQ for Parents and Students tab on the website outlining many more topics and answers to questions. Other questions may be directed to the School division office by calling 540-863-1800.
Dabney Lancaster Community College will have no in person classes, but virtual online classes will resume as well as other alternative classes through April 3, 2020.
Commencement exercises have been cancelled for May graduates and they will honor their graduates at a later, safer date according to Glenn DuBois, chancellor of the Virginia Community College System.
