Noreen Alexander Barr, age 88, of Covington, died Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at the Brian Center of Alleghany in Low Moor. She was born, April 19, 1938, in Petersburg, WV, to the late Robert Alexander and Verda Smith Alexander and was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merle Price Barr; and a sister. Joyce Landes. Noreen worked for the Alleghany Health Department as a clerk for many years, and in her leisure time she enjoyed making crafts, reading and playing golf. Surviving to cherish her memory are two daughters, Jan Hobbs of Covington, Becky Barr of Allen, Kentucky; two sons, Steven (Melinda) Barr of Eagle Rock, Robert (Kellie) Barr of Zachary, Louisiana; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Pat Hofheinz of Moneta; nieces, nephews and other family members. In accordance with Ms. Barr’s wishes, her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Petersburg, WVA.
