Richard (Rick) Penmon Lee, 81, of Covington, died Monday, October 5, 2026 at Lewis Gale Salem Hospital in Salem. He was born December 7, 1944 in Columbus, GA, a son of the late William and Bertha Brookes Lee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Carter Wickline and 8 brothers and sisters. Rick was member of the Moss Run Baptist Church. He worked for many years as a working foreman for Sams and Company. Also, he was a very talented musician that played with Ralph Stanley for couple years and with Raymond Fairchild and The Maggie Valley Band and also music the Alleghany Highlands and surrounding area, he was an avid hunter and gun smith. Survivors include his wife Teresa Meadows Lee of Covington; his children William (Leslie) Lee of Lexington, Charles (Kathryn) Lee of Clifton Forge, Angela (Tony) Kimberlin of Clifton Forge, Jayhugh (Kimberly Kimberlin) Lee of Clifton Forge, Cassidy (Mason Fisher) Lee of Covington, Jessica (Richie) Smith of Clifton Forge, Emily (Yogi Allen) Burks of Covington; a sister Katherine Calhoun of N.C.;18 Grandchildren,16 Great Grandchildren, also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews including special nephew Toby Calhoun, and a bonus son Hayne Yarboruogh of Hot Springs. In accordance with Richard’s wishes, his body has been cremated. A celebration of life will be conducted on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Arritt Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Frank Sizemore officiating. The family will receive their friends beginning at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Arritt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
