Geraldine Fourquean Allen

Geraldine Fourquean Allen, age 79, departed this life on March 20, 2026 at her residence after a short illness, surrounded by her loved ones. She was the daughter of the late Sarah Jordan Smith and Roy E. “Pape” Fourquean. Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband for 34 years, Ronald Allen, Sr.; a daughter, Sherry Allen; a son, Stevie Allen; two sister-in-law’s, Barbara Allen and Linda Wyatt; three brothers-in-law’s, Donald Lee Allen, Ricky Allen, Climmie Lee Wyatt. Geraldine attended the former Watson High School, was a faithful/active member of Pine Street Baptist Church, serving on the Hospitality Ministry, Decorating Ministry, Homecoming Ministry, and wherever she was needed. She enjoyed singing and was a member of the Willing Worker’s Choir and Ministry, the Combined Choirs of the church and a member of the Resurrecting Praise Community Choir. Ronald and Geraldine traveled every chance they got going down south to visit their daughter Sherry and other family members. Geraldine was employed for years at the Halmode Sewing Factory until they closed, Rose's Discount Store starting as a greeter and was promoted to the Domestic Department and Cashier until closing and then to Food Lion as a cashier. After her retirement from City Hall, she was a faithful member of the Watson Alumni Association, enjoying the school reunions held every two years; the “Diners Club” at the Senior Center; a supporter of “Soul Rhythm Line” dancers, and was faithful participating in all events until her illness prohibited her last year. Geraldine enjoyed baking, making homemade rolls and fudge, sharing them with her friends and her church family. She created and maintained strong friendships throughout every phase of her life. She had a bubbly personality, making everyone laugh at her witty remarks and an awesome smile when she wanted to, unless she was upset and then it went downhill fast. Geraldine leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Teresa Caroll Jackson of Roanoke; six grandchildren, Michael (L.C.), Delmar, Shaneitra, Markiel, Justin, Ronald; seven great-grandchildren, Michael, Omari, Ryland, Aubrey, Theodore, Amina, Ziylan; two sisters, Brenda Mae Jackson and Jesse Thorton; a dear family member, Clarice Halsey; two goddaughters, Caprice Reynolds, Danielle Helton whom she adored; two special friends, Elizabeth Hunter, Linda Cook; a circle of girlfriends; and many other family and friends, too numerous to name. The family of Geraldine Allen wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude for the love and support shown during this extremely difficult time. The care and compassion you have shown our family is much appreciated by all of us. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Pine Street Baptist Church at 2:00PM with Elder Randall Allen preaching the eulogy, Rev. Dr. Thomas Harper officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Interment will immediately follow the service at Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family suggest that memorial contributions be made to Pine Street Baptist Church Hospitality Ministry in lieu of flowers. The address is PSBC, 347 E.
