Joanne Hughson Robertson, age 88, of 609 Brussels Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia went peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at The Woodlands Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clifton Forge, surrounded by her family. Joanne was born on May 8, 1938 in Clifton Forge to the late Wilbur D. and Ethel Lytton Hughson. She was a homemaker for her family throughout her life and also worked as a secretary at Fitzgerald’s Department Store. She was a longtime member of the Clifton Forge Baptist Church, where she taught the kindergarten Sunday school class. She enjoyed crafts, babysitting, and watching golf on television with Kevin. In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Stiteler. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, James “Jimmy” Robertson of Clifton Forge; two daughters, Jeri Ann Plott (Bobby) of Clifton Forge and Cathy McDaniel (Greg) of Staunton; a son, Kevin Robertson (Shirley) of Clifton Forge; six grandchildren, Jeremy May, Kelsey Plott, Ethan Plott, Conner McDaniel, Jamie Robertson, and Josi Robertson; six great grandchildren, Killian May, Hadlee Plott, Luka Rohdan, Adie Mae Robertson, Kinsey Plott, and Kolten Johnson; as well as a great grandchild due in December. In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge is handling arrangements.
