Christine Lee Shiflett Lopez, age 55, of Covington, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at her home, surrounded by her family and friends. Christine was born on June 15, 1971 in Richmond, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Wilmer and Mary Shiflett. She was a phlebotomist at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany in Low Moor. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Donna Watson and a nephew, Conner Shiflett. She is survived by her loving husband of 16 years, Fernando J. Lopez of Covington; two sons, Stephen Lopez (Samantha) of Florida and Justin Nicely Covington, whom she loved with all her heart; brothers, Danny Shiflett (Andrea) of Richmond and Haley Shiflett (Jennifer) of Roanoke; two step sons, Patrick Lopez of Clifton Forge and Scott Lopez of Roanoke; a granddaughter, Sylvie Elizabeth Nicely; a number of nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Pam Zaremba (Scott) and Dr. Sherri Shiflett, and a special nephew, Spencer Shiflett; her many friends, especially the ones she held closest to her heart, her sister, Tammie Byer, as well as Cindy Sams, Kathy Brown, and Tracie Fridley; and her dog, Poncholino II. In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Victory Baptist Church, Clifton Forge with Pastor Brandon Nicely officiating. The family will visit with friends on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the church. Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge is handling arrangements.
