James David “Jim” Irvine, age 61, of 3539 Midland Trail, Covington, Virginia died on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at his residence.
Jim was born on April 20, 1965 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Rudolph Vincent Irvine and Bernice Mildred Kelly Irvine. He was a manager at Sonoco, Inc. and a member of the Covington Moose and the Solid Rock Church. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing guitar, and especially being with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings football and the Boston Red Sox baseball teams.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Robin Lynn Robinson Irvine; two sisters, Barbara Ann Irvine Combs and Norma J. Irvine Markland, and a brother, Ronald Stuart “Ronnie” Irvine.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Rhea Irvine of Covington; three daughters, Samantha Armentrout (J.C.) of Covington, Taylor Edwards (Danterro) of Fincastle, and Kadie Andrews (Michael) of Covington; a step son, Dakota Rhea Anderson of Eagle Rock; one sister, Michelle Cook of Covington; two brothers, Bobby Irvine (Rev. Pamela Irvine) and Larry Irvine (Mary), both of Clifton Forge; two sisters-in-law, Margaret “Myrtle” Booth and Edith “Pearl” Burkett; a brother-in-law, Palmer Rhea; eleven grandchildren, Levi Harman, Jaxson Harman, McKenzie Armentrout, Adam Armentrout, Kalaya Irvine, Aniayah Singleton, Arianah Edwards, Tayden Singleton, Kimber Charles, Greyson Charles, and Natalie Andrews; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes, Jim’s body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 at 6:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Pamela Irvine officiating. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home.
