Robert Dewey “Bob” Jenkins, age 83, of Millboro died peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2026 at Lynchburg General Hospital, Lynchburg.
He was born on May 11, 1943 in Covington, Virginia to the late John Paul Jenkins, Sr., and Shirley Mildred Martin Jenkins. After graduation from Virginia Tech in 1967, Bob taught and coached at Alleghany High School. He returned to Virginia Tech and received a degree in accounting. He worked for a CPA firm in Winchester where he earned his CPA license. In 1973, Bob began his 26 year career at the BARC Electric Coop in Millboro as the manager of the office services.
Bob shared with his wife, Bonnie and their son, Todd, his love of hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening and Virginia Tech sports. He was a person who always put his family first! He was a loving and generous husband, dad, and "Pappy." He enjoyed sharing his time with each.
Bob loved coaching Babe Ruth Baseball. He coached and refereed little league football, baseball and basketball which he did up until Todd entered high school. He introduced him to the sport of golf and Bob loved following Todd throughout his high school and college years.
He was a member of the Millboro Ruritans for 25 years. He was a lifetime member of the Clifton Forge Elks and a longtime member of Cliftondale Golf Country Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Emma Pearle Gillespie Jenkins; his Aunt Ivan Jenkins Johnson (Donnie); step mother, Ruby Gillespie Jenkins; and son, Michael “Mickey” L. Jenkins.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie Weaver Jenkins of Millboro; a son, Jonathan “Todd” Jenkins (Tiffany Miller) of Charlottesville; two grandchildren, Miller Payton and Ellison Tucker Jenkins; a brother, John Paul “JP” Jenkins, Jr. (Margaret); a sister-in-law, Jacquelyn “Jackie” Weaver Donnelly (Dennis); a “like” sister, Ruth Johnson Rodgers (Ray); nephews, Steve Jenkins, Kyle Donnelly, Danny Rodgers; nieces, Kellie Jenkins Pry and Kristy Rodgers Pasco.
In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 11:00AM in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor with Mr. JD Williams and Pastor Con Sauls of Windy Cove Church officiating. The family will visit friends following the service at the graveside.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Bath County Rec Department, 65 Panther Drive, Hot Springs, VA 24445, to support the Little League programs for the children in Millboro.
