Big Al has 25 years of experience in Country Radio. Started his career at WXCF AM and FM in Clifton Forge, VA as the host of "Big Al In The Morning" on the former Hot Country 103.9 FM. Al is now the Station Manager at Highlands Media Group and is now the host of "Highway 64 with Big Al" on 103.5 Big Country/WKEY AM1340. He has a girlfriend, Debbie Griffin whom he loves to spend time with and two fur babies, miniature poms, Ceirra and Kona.

The Jackson River Preservation Association leader Bill Wilson has applauded a recent letter sent by Virginia Senators to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission requesting a stop work order for the Atlantic Coast Pipeline.

A lawsuit challenging an unusual Virginia law that allows officers to arrest and jail people designated as “habitual drunkards” was reinstated on Tuesday.

Virginia State and Local governments may have to pay more each year to cover public employees retirement costs.

We’ll have details on these stories and more this afternoon on the Alleghany Highlands Newsroom with Peter Killeen at 3, 4, and 5 p.m.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at 11:00AM in Karnes Cemetery, Low Moor with Reverend Lisa Marshall officiating. Interment will follow. John Lawrence Uarich, Jr, 86, of Powhatan, Virginia went home to the Lord on Saturday, July 13, 2019. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Pastor Ralph Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. The family will receive friends from 11:00AM until time of service at Nicely Funeral Home. CAROLYN ANN RUNYON-TINGLER, age 54 of Hot Springs, Va passed away Monday, July 15th at her resident in Hot Springs. DARNELL POWELL SMITH, age 69, of Millboro, Va, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2019 at his residence in Millboro.
